An Excellent Teacher and Administrator

Saila Bala High School is one of the famous and oldest Bengali Medium High School in the Brahmaputra valley of Assam. The school is located at Kharupetia Town in the district of Darrang where Sri Srimanta Sarkar came as Head Master in the year 1967.

During his tenure in the said school, he was dedicated for the overall development of the school. He was accommodated in a staff quarter within the school campus and took it on himself to maintain the school campus properly which not only limited to cleanliness but also plantation of various flowering plants. He took all steps necessary for beautification of the school.

He was also associated with other cultural and social development of the small town of Kharupetia. The school is located on the side of NH 15. It was only a building without boundary wall and gate. During his tenure he had the boundary walls and main gate constructed giving the school an attractive look.

During his tenure at this school, he maintained a good reputation with the society and participated/contributed in all religious and social functions. About 50 years back while he was our Head Master and I hardly remember the incidents properly. He taught us punctuality and discipline. It was in his time that the school assembly before class was started with prayer and national anthem which is still continuing. Many of the people did not know his name but everybody simply knew him as the Head Master. His knowledge and dedication made our school famous all over Assam. In 1986, he was transferred from our school to Vidyamandir H. S. School, Pandu, Guwahati. Being in a larger area and society than Kharupetia, he found a greater sphere to establish his excellence and involvement in all spheres of life. His dedication to his work and love for the students is unforgettable.

I wish him a very long, healthy and peaceful life.
